Promoting an Annual Scientific Meeting
Digestive Disease Week (DDW) is the largest international gathering of physicians and researchers in the fields of gastroenterology, hepatology, endoscopy, and gastrointestinal surgery. With hundreds of very complex abstracts being presented at the annual meeting, it is critical to select the most newsworthy new research and to effectively translate the science into consumer-friendly language to pique the interest of reporters, on-site and beyond.
For the past 10 years, we have worked closely with the DDW team to promote their cutting-edge science and garner national media attention for the meeting. We carefully review hundreds of highly technical scientific abstracts and identify the most potentially newsworthy achievements to promote among many national and trade media throughout the week. We write press materials, coordinate briefings and interviews, arrange opportunities for reporters to meet with researchers, coordinate blog partnerships, and facilitate social media activities, including Facebook Lives, to boost our efforts.
Each year, we see a steady increase in media impressions stemming from the DDW press program. Our efforts have resulted in national media hits, including NBC, Time, The Washington Post, Newsweek, Today.com, HealthDay, and Vice.
